ST.
JOHNSBURY COUNTRY CLUB
Route 5 North, less than 10 minutes from
the hotel (802) 748-9894 |
| ...This
well-known golf course is located minutes from the hotel,
just north of St. Johnsbury in the hub of Vermont's spectacular
Northeast Kingdom. Rave reviews come not only from the hotel's
guests who play the course, but also from such notable sources
as USA Today and Golf Digest. The course has been rated
the best "Under $50" public course in Vermont.
Vermont Golf Magazine has backed that appraisal by saying.
"There's no better golfing value in the state than
St. Johnsbury Country Club." St. Johnsbury Country
Club has each of the key ingredients that all great golf
courses offer: Each hole is unique in its feel and the challenges
it presents The course is always manageable to a broad spectrum
of players The golf is never boring at any level of play.
Course conditions are always exceptional. The entire course
is located in a beautiful and tranquil setting. The testimony
to the enjoyable quality of the St. Johnsbury course is
that golfers find themselves faced with many holes that
they wish they could have played again before advancing
to the next - regardless of the score they posted. The front
nine provides players with an "Old World" golf
experience. The course was originally designed and built
by two-time winner of the British Open, Willie Parks Jr.
and his brother Mungo Parks in 1923. The back nine, designed
by Geoffrey Cornish in 1992, is more of a target golf experience.
Both designs blend perfectly together for an outstanding
golf experience. St. Johnsbury Country Club's comfortable
full-service clubhouse, with its pro shop and dining facilities,
is housed in the informal Vermont tradition of a restored
farm dwelling. It is a place where you can relax, enjoy
a fine meal or a snack inside or on the deck, and "replay"
your great golf experience! |

...The
beautiful Newport Country Club is most famous for its
spectacular views of expansive Lake Memphremagog, its
proximity to the scenic town of Newport, VT, and its unique
setting on a high ridge in the mountains that surround
them. It is one of Northern Vermont's most popular golf
venues. Conditions are consistently excellent and golfing
is always enjoyable on this user-friendly course. The
overall appearance is that of a manicured country club
with flower beds and carefully cleared wooded areas located
throughout. The new clubhouse, physically built by the
members themselves, is an enjoyable place to relax. The
food is excellent and inexpensive by the standards of
most clubs to the south. The ambiance is very pleasant.
And the back deck and restaurant overlook the magnificent
lake below.
